How to enable and use tracking via Whatsapp?

Among many other available trackings, you can use your phone with Whatsapp to update your position on the map. Through a chat with Skipperblogs you share your position using native Whatsapp Live Location.

How to configure and enable Whatsapp tracking?

Open the trackings settings page Dashboard Navigation Tracking (https://www.skipperblogs.com/dashboard/nav/tracking) and select Whatsapp in the list.

Input your Whatsapp phone number and click on Save settings. Our bot will send you a message to initiate a new chat. Your account is now connected.

Once your account connected, don't forget to enable the tracking:

How to update my position?

Using your phone, open the Skipperblogs' chat on Whatsapp.

Tap > Location > Share live location
Then Send your Current location

Check the accuracy of your position

Whatsapp may not use GPS to locate its position accurately, but Wifi or cellular network. This could result in an inaccurate position. This also applies if you use your phone connected to Starlink's Wifi while sailing offshore.

Adding a custom message

Once your position sent, you can add a text that will be inserted in the Waypoint.

Images or other medias are not yet supported

For now, the tracking only support adding custom text to the waypoint. In the future we plan to extend the support to images and maybe videos.
