How can we help?

How does the file explorer works?

When it comes to upload, sort and manage your photos and documents, the file explorer is very handy.

The file explorer is an interface listing all your files (exept videos) in a tree-like way like your desktop explorer (or Finder on Mac devices). It brings all your files together (pictures, documents) that you have uploaded.

How to access the file explorer?

There are two ways to open the file explorer, either by open its dedicated dashboard page https://www.skipperblogs.local/dashboard/medias or by clicking on the Insert image button directly when editing a blog article or page. This second method is used to insert images into content in a quick way.

What can I do with the file manager?

The file explorer is designed like the one one your computer. It lists all your files in folder and sub-folders. On the left hand side the folder tree allow you to quickly navigate your files. With this interface, you can:

  • Create, rename, move and delete folder
  • Upload, rename, move and delete files

Three parts make up the file explorer: the top header that groups actions applicable to files and folders. The left vertical banner that represents the tree structure of your folders. And the middle part, the list of files, which displays the files contained in the current directory (the one selected in the left).

How to upload a file?

Click on the top bar button Upload files

then in the upload popup you can etiher click Select files to upload one or multiples files or click on Select folder to upload all file it contain. The file(s) are then transfered from your device to the active/open folder.

To upload batch of files all in one either click on Select folder to send all the content of a folder or maintain the CTRL key (Windows) or Command/Cmd (Mac) to select mutliple files on your device.

The maximal file size is 100 Mo per file and you can upload a maximal of 1000 files at a time.

Images/Photos Tips

Most of the images coming from our cameras or phones, are of a very high definition, too large for their display on a website. This is why when you send and insert an image in a text, the editor will automatically generate smaller thumbnails to match a display and a correct loading time on your website.

I advise you to reduce the size of your images to about 3000 pixels (for the longest edge) before sending them to Skipperblogs. This will not change much their size or resolution on your website but it will save you some disk space.
