Hi, I'm Harriet! I figured it would be good for you to know me if you're going to be reading my articles!
I
grew up in North Wales in the mountains, thus sparking my love for the
outdoors. From climbing in the mountains, to kayaking in the ocean, my
weekends have always been dominated by beautiful landscapes.
I quickly got into rock climbing, and I've been privileged enough that this hobby has taken me all over the world.
After
conquering the heights, I then explored the depths of the ocean. After
accepting that my surfing skills were passable at best, I dipped below
the surface beginning my scuba diving journey.
Sailing came a
little later on for me, but I remember when I realised it was possible
to live on a boat and sail the world. I was wandering past a local
marina with my parents, and saw a man working on his boat. My mam told
me not to stare- as that was his home. This blew my young mind, and it
opened up the possibilities of boat life. From then onwards, whenever my
dad and I saw any boats sitting in a harbour, we'd point out our
favourites and claim it as ours, with a "that one's mine!". At that
point I never could imagine being in my 20s, and pointing out my own
boat!
One day my partner and I stumbled upon the topic of
sailing and living aboard. Something until this point, we hadn't
realised the other had ever wanted. We somehow knew that was it, and the
rest is history!
